🖥️ Whonix Guide
Advanced privacy with Whonix's dual VM architecture for darknet access.
VM Setup
Download and install VirtualBox from the official website (virtualbox.org). Then download both the Whonix Gateway and Whonix Workstation OVA images from whonix.org. Verify the download integrity using the provided GPG signatures. Import both images via File → Import Appliance in VirtualBox. Allocate at least 512MB RAM to the Gateway and 2GB RAM to the Workstation for comfortable operation. Do not modify the default network configuration — it is preconfigured for security.
Gateway
The Whonix Gateway is the security backbone of the system — it handles all Tor connections and network routing. Start the Gateway first and wait for it to fully connect to the Tor network (the Tor icon in the system tray will turn green). The Gateway acts as a transparent proxy, forcing all traffic from the Workstation through Tor regardless of application settings. This design prevents IP leaks even if individual applications are misconfigured or compromised.
Workstation
The Whonix Workstation is your isolated desktop environment where you run Tor Browser and all other applications. It can only communicate through the Gateway — direct internet access is physically impossible due to the virtual network configuration. Start the Workstation after the Gateway is connected. Run the built-in Whonix Check utility to verify that Tor is functioning correctly and that your system clock is synchronized. All your market activities should occur exclusively within this VM.
