🌍 Browser Security Guide

⚙️ Security Settings

Configure Tor Browser security level to Safest (Settings → Privacy & Security → Security Level). This disables JavaScript entirely, blocks web fonts, limits media playback, and prevents many browser-based attacks. While some market features may not work in Safest mode, the security benefits far outweigh the inconvenience. If a specific trusted page requires JavaScript, use the NoScript icon to temporarily enable it for that domain only — never set the global level below Safest.

🔌 Extensions

Do NOT install any additional browser extensions in Tor Browser. Every extension modifies your browser fingerprint, making you uniquely identifiable among Tor users. The Tor Browser already includes NoScript and HTTPS Everywhere — these are the only extensions you need. Extensions from third-party sources may contain malware, report browsing data to external servers, or create unique behavioral patterns that compromise your anonymity. Use Tor Browser exactly as it comes out of the box.

🕵️ Fingerprinting

Tor Browser includes built-in anti-fingerprinting protections — it reports a generic screen resolution, timezone, and user agent to websites. Do not install additional extensions (they make your browser fingerprint unique). Do not resize the browser window. Do not change the default language settings. Every modification makes you more identifiable.
